Coleman first arrived at Iktomi Tattoo riding into Minneapolis on the back of a large buffalo that he claimed he had won in a card game somewhere outside of Bismarck. He tied the buffalo to a parking meter, walked into the shop carrying nothing but a tattoo machine and a warm can of Mountain Dew and asked if we needed another artist. Nobody was really sure what to say, so we gave him a station. Coleman turned out to be an incredibly talented tattoo artist and has been with us ever since, although every few months the buffalo appears outside the shop and Coleman quietly leaves with it for several days without explanation. We have learned not to ask where they go, but Coleman always comes back with a little more dust on his boots and somehow several hundred dollars in Canadian currency.
